Social Responsibility

With a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, supporting the community and helping those less fortunate than us, the Adelaide Showground is a responsible member of the Australian business community.

The Adelaide Showground's Social Responsibility

As one of South Australia’s largest multi-purpose venues, the Adelaide Showground is a responsible member of the Australian business community, recognised for its environmental initiatives and its contribution to the community. The venue is managed by the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society (RA&HS), a volunteer-governed, independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in primary industries through the staging of events and recognition of excellence.

Through the Adelaide Showground's premier event, the Royal Adelaide Show, and under the Show Society Foundation, the RA&HS generates more than $200 million in economic value each year. The Show Society Foundation proudly supports more than 200 community groups, charities, schools, and industry associations annually.

Focussed on the Environment

Protecting and preserving the environment is a top priority at the Adelaide Showground. The venue is committed to achieving energy and water neutrality, housing one of the largest solar panel installations in Australia, along with a 3.5-million-litre underground water tank that captures stormwater runoff. In 2024, the Royal Adelaide Show, the Showground’s flagship event, achieved its most sustainable year to date, with an impressive 99% of waste diverted from landfill.
