Adelaide Showground Farmers Market

Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market

The Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market is held at the Adelaide Showground on Sundays from 9am to 1pm (except on Easter Sunday and during the Royal Show).

The market is held inside the Beef Cattle Pavilion and outside in the adjoining carpark, adjacent to the Leader Street entrance to the Showground site.

The Farmers’ Market offers around 90 local farmers and producers representing every region of the state the opportunity to sell fresh, seasonal produce direct to consumers. The produce on offer ranges from fruit and vegetables to meat, seafood, dairy, eggs, nuts, chutneys and jams, bread, cheese, wine and more. Attracting around 6000 shoppers each weekend, the market is a great opportunity for consumers to interact with producers and learn about their fresh produce.

Entry to the market is free, however memberships are available and provide a 10% discount on all produce purchased from stallholders. Annual memberships can be purchased from the Information Tent at the market or at a discounted rate online via the market website. Members can also buy a weekly car parking pass that can be used every Sunday when visiting the market. Membership runs for the calendar year, and the fee is reduced periodically throughout the year. Memberships are also valid at our Gawler Farmers’ Market, located at the Gawler Visitor Information Centre carpark (2 Lyndoch Road, Gawler).

The Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market started in 2006 as a not-for-profit organisation that supports small family farms, agricultural diversity and fresh, regional and seasonal choices for consumers. Recognised as the nation’s best farmers’ market by the Australian Traveller magazine in 2015, the Showground Market has continued to grow and is the largest farmers’ market in South Australia.

More recently the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market has developed a South Australian Farmers' Market Producer Guarantee.  The Producer Guarantee is a practical system that farmers’ markets can use to verify that a stallholder at the market is the person who produces the items they are selling. Look for the Producer Guarantee signs at the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market for more information on the system and the stallholders at the market.  The Producer Guarantee System has been developed by the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market Inc. (ASFM Inc.) with financial assistance from Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA).
